Falling in Love with Romance by Carrie Ann Ryan

First, I want to give a HUGE thank you for letting me take over for the day. This is my debut novel, so it is always amazing to meet new people.

Today I’m going to be talking about how I fell in love with the romance world. I will admit. I’m a junkie. A romance junkie. I love love love reading romance. There is nothing better to me than after a long day, going home and cracking open a book. Or in my case lately, switching on my Kindle. LOL

I love opening my eyes to a tough hero who will sweep me off my feet. But what I really love is when the heroine scoffs and walks side by side. They are equals in my world. Strength in romance and their love. It makes me all gooey inside LOL.

My first romance book was actually Twilight. I know right? But even though people may roll their eyes, it still caught my attention. Then I gave them back to my friend and bought a copy of a Laurell K. Hamilton book, Guilty Pleasures. Now that one drew me to good story telling and romance. Though it still didn’t feel like a true romance yet. But after reading Sherrylin Kenyon, Kelley Armstrong and then Nora Roberts, I found myself with a clear addiction. And I don’t want a cure. Just give me more romance!

I love reading romance. I love the connections, the fact that no matter what happens, there is a happy ending. I don’t want to go through reading a 350+ page book and then everyone leave alone. Sad. What was the point? Evil and lonely hearts overpopulate our society – bring me something new. Something I can drown myself in and fall in love.

I don’t need fancy cars, diamond earrings, chocolates and silk. If they are in a trailer park in the wilderness and one happens to turn into a werewolf or a moose I’d be happy. As long as they are in love, I can be drawn in. On that note however, I have the sudden feeling to write a moose inspired love story. Hmm…. LOL

What is your favorite part of romance? What brought you in? Talk to me.

Again, thank you for letting me stop by!

An Alpha’s Path

(Redwood Pack, #1)

by Carrie Ann Ryan

Published December 1st 2011

Melanie is a twenty-five year old chemist who has spent all of her adult life slaving at school. With her PhD in hand, she’s to start her dream job, but before she does, her friend persuades her to relax and try to live again. A blind date set up through her friends seems like the perfect solution. Melanie can take one night away from the lab and let her inner vixen out on a fixed blind date – a chance to get crazy with a perfect stranger. The gorgeous hunk she’s to meet exceeds her wildest dreams – be he is more than what he appears and Melanie’s analytical mind goes into overdrive.

Kade, a slightly older werewolf (at over one hundred years), needs a night way from the Pack. Too many responsibilities and one near miss with a potential mate made Kade hide in his work, the only peace he can find. His brother convinces him to meet the sexy woman for a one night of fun. What could it hurt? But when he finds this woman could be his mate, can he convince her to leave her orderly, sane world and be with him and his wolf-half, for life?

  1. Carrie, you are so awesome!
I love reading romance too 🙂 I read my first romance when i’m 14yo or so. It was Pada Sebuah Kapal by NH. Dini (Indonesian great author). The story so romantic for my age *grin*. And when i grew up, i read it again, and found the book was more better.
I have the same reason with you why i love reading romance. Just because the story always happy ends. And always dream, will i found my own hero in real life? Hahaha..
It is nice to met you here, i haven’t read your book yet, but will looking forward for it.
Have a wonderful holiday Carrie ^^

    Best wishes,
    Kristiana

  6. I didn’t really read romance books until about 4 years ago….in fact I didn’t read much beyond YA mysteries (think Nancy Drew)…now I read just about anything I can get my hands on.

I love romance for one of the same reasons you do…the Happily Ever After (HEA).

  14. We are very similar in this! Twilight was my first romance, too! And I absolutely LOVED IT! So I don’t think it’s eye-roll worthy at all. I still watch the movies when they come out, and smile when I catch someone reading the books 🙂
And my favorite part of reading romance is also the HEA. I won’t read anything without one!

  19. I’ve loved romance novels since the age of 11. I know- a little too early for all that steam. But I loved them all, starting with my very first Sandra Brown novel and moving on to Johanna Lindsey. Melanie sounds like a character I can relate to,, so I’d love to read this book soon. Excellent post!

  21. Couldn’t agree with you more! I read romance, too, for the HEAs! I’ve read a couple of books (not romance) where the ending was “wrong” and got so mad I was in a crappy mood for the rest of the day. Give me romance, particularly historical, any day!

  25. What I love about romance is not having to think about anything else that is happening in my reality. Lol. It’s nice to have somewhere to escape to, especially when you’re a stay at home mom and there aren’t many chances to do so!
