Interview with Erin Jamison

“So the catalyst that spurred me into action was reading Twilight.

An avid reader by nature, Erin Jamison dreamed of telling stories of her very own. Mustering her bravado, she forged ahead to create a series of stories that promote individuality, confidence, fearlessness, fortitude, and passion. She writes sensual erotic stories of women who know what they want and aren’t afraid to go after it for women who want a bit of a thrill too.

As a child, what did you wanna do when you grew up?

As a child, the answer to that question may change frequently. I know I’m dating myself here but do you remember the original movie, “Fame”? I wanted to go to the Fame school and I wanted to sing, dance, and act just like Leroy in the movie. As I got older I decided that was more of a pipe dream than anything. It wasn’t until I was a senior in high school when I started to thing about writing.

What’s the one event in your life that inspired you to be who you are today?

Despite thinking that I might be able to write a story, I was fearful of rejection and failure. Unfortunately, I let that fear deter me for far too long.

So the catalyst that spurred me into action was reading Twilight. It seems laughable but I was inspired when Stephanie Meyers said that she dreamed of the meadow and the story evolved from there. It really seemed so ordinary actually however the characters came to life off the page. It’s something to aspire to.

Who are your favorite authors of all time?

Ooh! Let’s see, you said of all time. I still enjoy and nearly have all her books in my collection and that would be Patricia Cornwell. She’s an author that I’ve read for years. I’ve been a faithful supporter, even if I think she may have missed the mark a time or two. My favorite romance writer for the last couple of years however has been the fabulous warden herself, J. R. Ward.

What were your first thoughts when you saw the cover for BETTER THAN 8 FANTASY?

Seriously, no BS… I said, “It’s so pretty and it looks so professional!” It really just hit the mark for me. Just like the book, the cover is sensual and suggestive.

Don’t get me wrong, the book definitely has it’s steamy bits but it’s is so much more that just a book with a lot of sex in it.

I think the cover helps to convey the sensuality of the story.

What’s your “aha” moment when writing a sex scene in a book – the point at which you realize you’ve captured the essence of a hot tryst?

Honestly, I was apprehensive the whole time when I wrote the sex scene. I worried that it was too much or that it was too little. I wondered if it was awkward or sensual. It wasn’t until I let the story rest for a few days and read it through when I realized that… it was hot and sexy. I was quite proud of me!

What are five fun facts about you or this book, that readers would love to know?

* I’m from the south but I don’t speak in the vernacular that Katie does

* http://7orbetter.com was an inspiration for the book

* Each girl will have their own book and will be centered around a theme

* Various elements of sexual exploration will be presented in each book

* We will travel to different places/countries in some of the books as well

What’s the most surprising thing you learned in creating your books?

Well the most suprising and rewarding thing for me was that people liked it. They actually liked a story that was the product of my own musings of “what if…”

Can you tell us about some of your upcoming releases, or new projects that we can look forward to?

The next book in the series will be Better Than 8 Karma. This will be Naomi’s story.

How would you define “Romance”?

A tale of suspense, romance, and sensuality that seduces the reader.
